| THE BOYS NEXT DOOR is a play that was important to many members of our group for a variety of reasons. As a play with a focus on mentally and emotionally challenged persons, it puts forth a number of serious social issues in a compelling way. At the same time, it treats these special characters with humor and grace, and with a very personal touch. Three of the cast had played their character before in other productions, and others had been associated with a previous production. So this was for most of us an occasion to dig even deeper into the characters and their situations. In the end, it was rewarding to be told by so many health care and social services professionals that we did our job well and with great sensitivity. |
